Songs That'll Get Everyone Dancing

Each week, we feature wedding music recommendations from Scratch Weddings, the nation's leader with the best wedding DJs at affordable prices. This week's post comes from DJ Mike Sincere, one of the most-wanted DJs in LA. He has worked with music-industry legends, such as Russell Simmons and Missy Elliott, as well as up-and-comers, like Estelle and the Ting Tings. Mike Sincere connects with guests of all ages to create a feel-good, cut-loose wedding atmosphere. "My aim is to get every single person on the dance floor! I start out by gathering information from the couple. I come prepared and then read the crowd and adjust along the way to ensures that everyone is enjoying themselves on the dance floor."

From a DJ’s standpoint, creating a list of “must play" songs is a challenging task. My job, first and foremost, is to make the bride and the groom happy and play to their musical taste.

However, that doesn't mean that the people in attendance have the same taste as the happy couple. How do I make everyone happy? Insert my list of “must play” songs here. This go-to list is a barometer to help me read the crowd and feel the energy in the room.

Here’s my DJ secret: I usually start off by picking a classic song from this list that the bride and groom will love and will get them dancing. When this results in getting all the guests to join them on the dance floor, I build on this vibe from the provided song list from the couple, mixing in songs that I know will create a fun and memorable soundtrack for their perfect evening.
