Tip of the Day: As a general rule of thumb, don't spend more than half of your budget on your venue. Couples get so excited and want to book the date and place that they don't think about all of the other expenses that they have to cover," says Danielle Rothweiler from Rothweiler Event Design. Rushing into contracts before you have all of the figures in front of you may leave you "house poor," and you'll have to figure out what to cut out to compensate for overspending.

Tip of the Day: Consider including charitable giving as part of your wedding registry, but don't just select the first charity that comes to mind. "When they're done right, charitable registries (like all charitable giving) can have a huge impact on the causes they benefit," says Adelaide Kuehn of powerofdeduction.com, which offers charitable registry services. "But when they aren't, your guests' contributions may wind up in the hands of organizations not positioned to spend them effectively, which is a bit of a wasted opportunity."

Tip of the Day: Consider flying during the middle of the week, when plane tickets are often less expensive than they are on peak-priced Friday and Saturday. When you research flights on budget travel sites like kayak.com, select the "flexible dates option" to see just how much less you might spend by flying in on Wednesday and returning home the next Thursday. An added bonus: getting home from your honeymoon on a Thursday gives you a few buffer days of relaxation before you have to go back to work that Monday.
