Hello all! As you read this I am sitting in the Internet Cafe on board the Crown Princess, one of Princess Cruises' magnificent ships, just off Roatan, Honduras, a lush, green beautiful and peaceful island. Yes, part of my job is to explore fantastic opportunities for you, including where to marry and honeymoon.
This is day four of Princess Cruises' first ever "Romantic Summit" cruise, perfectly timed to coincide with Valentine's Day this past Sunday. So far it's been a whirlwind of activity. There is so much to see and do on this floating city, which has everything you could possibly want including fabulous restaurants, pubs, lounges, a casino, state-of-the art Lotus Spa, outdoor movies, indoor theater, entertainment galore, fun classes, pools (including an adults-only pool) health club and so much more!
Yesterday we were in Grand Cayman where I ventured out in a catamaran to swim with stingrays! (Thanks, Barry [BG's President and my boss] for recommending this...it was incredible.) Yes, I was definitely a bit nervous at first but these gorgeous creatures were gentle, graceful and friendly. Our guides helped put us at ease as they led the way into the sea and instructed us on what to do and where to pet the stingrays. Tomorrow we will be in Cozumel and I plan to continue my aquatic adventures and swim with dolphins...something I always dreamed of doing. Then we sail for a day and on Friday, we'll anchor in Princess Cays, Bahamas.
Recently, the Budget Guru was in contact with cake tailor Lauri DiTunno, of Cake Alchemy here in New York. (We featured Lauri’s supercreative confections in our 2010 Wedding Trends story.) True to form, the BG asked Lauri for a couple of quickie cost-cutting tips, and she whipped these right up:

Although it’s a new year, the economy is still rebounding and many brides are looking for ways to trim their wedding budgets, which is where I come in. I wanted to share some great cost-saving tips that will keep you within budget without sacrificing the style you want for your big day.
If you're a bride-to-be in southern California, then you'll want to check out the 11th Annual A Soolip Wedding modern bridal event on February 21. This year's event features a formal Monique Lhuillier couture runway show, food tastings, conversations with etiquette, beauty, fashion, relationship and wedding planning experts, beauty-filled gift bags and more! Plus, the first 100 brides to pre-register will be entered for a chance to win an exclusive One in a Hundred Soolip Brides Honeymoon gift package, courtesy of Altour, which includes a complimentary five-night stay at any Small Luxury Hotels of the World property plus two roundtrip airline tickets.
One of the best parts of my job is hearing from you. I love getting your e-mails and hearing your stories—how you met your fiancé, difficulties you overcame and what you plan to do for your wedding. Your stories are fun to read, heartwarming and often inspiring.
An e-mail I received recently is one such story. The bride-to-be, Tiana Cu-Unjieng, wrote to tell me how she never really knew her father and had “struggled to forgive him” having been born out of wedlock in the Philippines and subsequently moving as a child to Denmark with her mom to start their lives over.
In 2007, working as a producer in Copenhagen, Tiana met her future husband, Jeremy, an American filmmaker who accompanied her to the Philippines to film a documentary on a tribe living there in the jungle. Tiana wrote that this once savage tribe was now a group of loving and kind people who taught the power of forgiveness. On the trip, she confessed to Jeremy that she had never met her father and had harbored resentment toward him for many years. Still, she tried searching for him for two years with no success. So what did her wonderful future fiancé do? He secretly searched for her dad and ultimately found him. She met her father, they reconciled and Tiana “found peace at last” with forgiveness. Having planned their wedding for February 20th, she asked her dad to walk her down the aisle and he happily accepted.

Hello everyone, my name is Christina and I am the new intern at Bridal Guide. I am currently studying at The Fashion Institute of Technology majoring in Home Products Development, and wrapping up my senior year. I previously studied Fashion Merchandising Management and realized that I was truly fascinated by the home industry. I have strong knowledge of the wine/liquor industry since I grew up working at my family’s wine shop in NJ, so if you have questions, I am your lady. I am very excited to be here and eager to find cool products to feature for you readers!
