Tip of the Day: When you're giving a toast, remember that the microphone will pick up every sound, including any inhaling and exhaling you do. So when the mike is handed to you, don't hold it ultra-close to your lips and keep it slightly away from your mouth to avoid any distracting sounds.

Remember, too, that microphones held nervously against your chest will pick up your heartbeat. A good tip is to ask the emcee before your toast to give you a little guidance on how you should hold the microphone.
