TikTok can be an excellent tool for finding the latest inspiration, hacks, and mistakes to avoid. We asked some experts for their best advice on using TikTok to plan your wedding. Here's what they had to say.

"TikTok is a great platform to connect with wedding vendors. Many vendors have a presence on the platform, and you can reach out to them directly or leave comments on their videos. You can even search for wedding vendors in your area by using location-based hashtags. By connecting with vendors on TikTok, you can get a better sense of their style and personality before booking them for your wedding. Plus, it's a fun way to see what they're up to and get to know them before your big day.” —Megan Breukelman, Megan & Kenneth

"TikTok can be a great resource if you use it correctly. The first thing is to follow hashtags that interest you. The more specific you are, the better. In general, TikTok will try to give you a more local feed, but if it does not, consider searching for local wedding hashtags if it is a vendor you need- For example, #weddingsmiami instead of #weddings- or whatever city you are planning to get married in."—Monika Kreinberg, Furever Us

"Use the endless scroll for good by saving the ideas that resonate with you. You can use the ribbon bookmark 'Add to Favorites' icon to save to general, or you can create a custom collection by creating a new collection under 'Manage.' Tap which collection you'd like to add the video to. By keeping all your wedding planning ideas in one place, you can easily organize them into categories, making it easier to track all your ideas. You can use the ideas you find as a starting point, and then customize them to make them your own." —Mary Angelini, Key Moment Films

"Planning a wedding in 2023 is a very visual process; there are many options and ideas for you to find and sort through. Some might say there is an overwhelming amount of inspiration, but that's where social media can come in handy! Inspired is the key word here; your wedding should be an extension of you and your story, not a carbon copy of someone else's. Create your own TikTok videos to share your wedding planning ideas and journey with your partner, friends, and family.  This can be a fun way to get feedback and involve others in planning who are too far to participate in person!" —Nora Sheils, Rock Paper Coin, Bridal Bliss

"TikTok is a great platform for sharing videos with wedding planning tips, experiences, and advice. You'll find videos from people who have already gone through the planning process, sharing their hindsight on things they wish they had known. The short-form video format of TikTok brings wedding inspiration to life, from venues and gowns to florals and decor. And watching other couples’ wedding videos can give you ideas for unique wedding vows, first dances, and photo shoots." —George Wainwright, Coastal DJ & Video

"Don't feel pressured to do or not do anything. Social media apps are wonderful for ideas, but with that can come the impression that your wedding won't be successful without these things. If you see something you like, make sure it works for your budget. Not every idea works for every couple. In that same sense, if someone is telling you not to do something that you have your heart set on, ignore them. This is your day, and only you know best what works for your budget and vision." —Dominic Fournier, The Wedding Duo

"Manage your expectations when you’'e on TikTok or any other social media platform. What you're most likely seeing, especially when it comes to inspiration and ideas, is the best of the best, not necessarily ideas that are affordable or even possible for your wedding. You’'e seeing over-the-top, aspirational designs, and ideas that are meant to inspire you to show you what is possible and get your creative ideas flowing. It’s not meant to be realistic. This is where your wedding planner and other wedding professionals will be key and so helpful, because you will be able to show them your inspiration that you found on TikTok, and they will be able to take your inspiration and show you what is possible in your budget and at your wedding in your season and in your area." —Julianne Smith, The Garter Girl

TikTok can be an incredibly useful tool for couples planning their wedding. It offers a wealth of inspiration and ideas from professionals who have gone through the process before, as well as those currently in the industry. However, it is important to remember that these videos often showcase over-the-top designs with seemingly endless budgets — so don't let them pressure you into doing something extravagant or unrealistic. Instead, use TikTok as your starting point and then work together with your partner and wedding planner to create something unique that fits within your budget and vision. With careful consideration, you'll be able to craft a day filled with beautiful memories!
