Tip of the Day: Travel insurance is essential for a destination wedding. "Ask your vendors to allow plenty of time for travel and always have them purchase travel insurance and follow the lead. It's imperative to have a plan B for issues that may come up when it comes to traveling for a destination wedding," says Aviva Samuels from Kiss the Planner.

She suggests buying your travel insurance early on since the price goes up the closer it gets to the wedding date. Read your policy carefully and ensure there aren't any exclusions that defeat the purpose of buying it in the first place. Check the hours of operation for the travel insurance company that you select. If you have a problem and need to call them while en route to different time zones, make sure that you will be able to reach them. If you have to file a claim for theft, be sure also to file a police report first. You may also need to produce receipts for the items that were stolen for the insurance to pay the claim.
