5 Tips for Planning the Ultimate Royal Wedding Viewing Party

We checked in with Mindy Weiss, celebrity event planner and Wedding Shop by Shutterfly style partner, to get her expert advice on how to plan a royal wedding watch party. Here is everything you need to know about hosting an elegant soirée in honor of the marriage of our favorite royal couple.

1. Invites
Send the most royal of save the dates! Your friends will appreciate the formality of a traditional paper invite for such a historic event. You can find great affordable invites at Shutterfly.com

2. Dress Code
Get guests in the spirit by holding a contest where the guest with the most outrageous hat wins a prize!

3. Themed Food + Drinks
Let them eat cake! Meghan and Harry have already revealed they will be having lemon elderflower cake so put a cute spin on it by serving some lemon elderflower cake pops for the occasion. Other in-theme food options could be crumpets, scotch eggs, and even custom cocktails like “Meghan’s Mimosas” or “Harry’s Hair of the Dog Bloody Marys.”

4. Set the Mood
Have fresh peonies (Meghan’s favorite flower) around the party, roll out a red carpet for when guests arrive and fill up your Spotify playlist with iconic British jams (hello Spice Girls!).

5. Get Social
Create a Snapchat filter for the occasion or set up a fun photo booth area with some quintessentially British objects. Think teacups, big hats, tiaras, union jacks, or even stuffed animal corgis.
