The Volcano
At the Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort in the town of Arenal you can soak in natural hot springs while marveling at the sight of the lava flowing from Central America’s most active volcano. You can tie the knot in a traditional Native American ceremony, held in a temazcal (an open-air cabin) in the rain forest. A shaman will rub cedar and sage on your bodies, then blow a conch toward the four points of the compass before blessing your union with an eagle feather. For you more modern couples, the resort also hosts civil services overlooking the volcano. And the hotel’s 114 rooms and 12 hot-spring pools are ideal for entertaining large wedding parties.
