Wedding Weight-Loss: New Exercises and More Weight-Loss Success

Saturday morning, Rene and I had an early morning session with our trainer, Bonne Marcus. Before we began the workout, we got on the scale, and I’m proud to say I am down another five pounds, and Rene is down four! I guess after the bad week we had of the party, last week’s intense training and diet really helped! The workout was really hard this week. I should have known that after not doing any strength training for three weeks, it was going to be tough. She had us doing a lot of old moves combined with some new ones.

There was one new one called the “Prisoner Get-ups,” and they killed me! You put your hands behind your ears with your arms to the side, go down on one knee, bring the other knee down, come up with one knee, and then stand with the other. I had to do 20 starting on each leg. It’s an amazing exercise because it’s working your arms, your core, and your legs, but it was not easy!

After our workout, Rene cooked breakfast — two eggs, a slice of whole wheat toast with some light butter, and turkey bacon. I went to a friend’s house and sunbathed, helped my other friend get some stuff ready for her engagement party, and did a lot of organizing at home. Sunday, Rene and I ran errands all day and finished all the work on our apartment. We put together our new dresser, hung everything on the shelves, cleaned, and it looks great! It’s amazing what a little bit of change can do to your mood.

OMG I am so sore!! I can barely walk normal and was in pain getting in and out of my car this morning. I was definitely cursing out Bonne during my morning commute. For breakfast, I had two hard-boiled eggs and a cup of coffee with hazelnut creamer (which I should not have had). Yesterday, I made lunch for Rene and myself, so we are having homemade veggie burgers with sweet potato fries and a cup of grapes. The veggie burgers are so easy — you mash the chick peas with an egg, sauté the veggies (red pepper, yellow onion, carrots, and celery), add bread crumbs, and mix it all together. Then, just form the patties with your hands and throw them on the grill. I also put together dinner for tonight yesterday so I wouldn’t have to do it when I got home. I made chicken stir-fry in the wok, which consists of chicken breast, zucchini, sliced mushrooms, red pepper and onion with some olive oil, salt, pepper, crushed red pepper and garlic powder. It’s delish! And served over some brown rice, it’s the perfect healthy meal.

I started writing out my thank you cards from the engagement party after dinner, and it’s going to take me forever. I finished the first page of my list (there are three pages!), and didn’t even write out the envelopes for that first page yet. Guess that is going to be my chore this week.

Tuesday, August 27

I’m still pretty sore, but I woke up and took a 5:45 a.m. spin class anyway, and I’m very happy I did. I showered at the gym and still made it into work by 8:15. It was busy at work, so when Rene texted me to see if I wanted to go out for sushi for dinner, I was very excited! We tried a new place by our house, which was just okay, not sure if I would go back. We shared a sushi dinner and got a special roll and I drank water. When we got home, I passed out like a baby!

Wednesday, August 28

I set my alarm to go spinning again this morning, but it didn’t happen. I was so tired, I don’t even remember my alarm going off to get up. I’ll have to get my workout fix in later after work tonight. For breakfast, I had two hard-boiled eggs and a cup of iced coffee, and for lunch, I brought another homemade veggie burger and sweet potato fries. I am going to go through my workout from Bonne with Rene when I get home. I hope my legs will make it!

For dinner, I am making a recipe from skinnytaste.com, Sausage Stuffed Zucchini Boats. They look amazing, and I can’t wait to try them! You cut the zucchini long ways in half, boil them for a minute, scoop out the filling, and stuff them with cooked chicken sausage, shredded reduced-fat mozzarella cheese and a homemade marinara sauce and bake. I’ll let you know how they come out tomorrow.

Thursday, August 29

I woke up today for spinning! It was a great class and I sweat my butt off. I had a banana and coffee for breakfast and brought leftovers for lunch today. Dinner was so good last nigh — I highly recommend trying out the recipe!

Friday, August 30

I am so hungover today. Yesterday, I got out of work early at 3 p.m. so I went out for drinks with coworkers, ended up staying out with clients, and didn’t get home until midnight. One of our stops was Mark Joseph Steakhouse down on Water Street. We had lobster, clams, huge shrimp, steak, and bacon bites, and it was incredible. Definitely one of the best steakhouses I’ve ever tried. I ate way more than I should have, but it was totally worth it.

Luckily, I was off today, so despite the hangover, Rene and I went to the gym and did 30 minutes of cardio, abs and arms. After the gym we went to Tropical Smoothie which was super refreshing! I’m definitely not going out tonight.
