Honeymoons, Home & More!

Let’s talk honeymoons for a minute (and who doesn’t want to think about jetting off to some lush tropical paradise?). Last week, along with BG’s Travel Editor, Jenna Mahoney, I met with some lovely people from the Hilton Waikoloa Village on Hawaii’s Big Island. We had a fantastic dinner at Etrusca restaurant located in New York’s Hilton Hotel on Sixth Avenue. (If you visit NYC, put this eatery on your must-do list. Etusca was just lauded in the New York Post as one of Manhattan’s best hotel restaurants and chef Rich Brown as “a real find.” I couldn’t agree more!)

Now, back to Hawaii, one of my favorite places on the planet, and the Waikoloa Village, an incredibly beautiful resort. If you haven’t already planned your honeymoon or are thinking of having a destination wedding, take a look at some of these photos and you may just make your decision sooner rather than later:

Pretty nice, isn’t it? Just picture yourselves side-by-side under that cabana and start making your plans!

From honeymoons to home…the following day called for a visit to Kohl’s preview of its new fall 2010 product lines, which will be available at your nearest Kohl's store in August. True confession: I “discovered” Kohl’s a few years ago when Vera Wang introduced her Simply Vera collection there and have been a fan ever since. They have a wide variety of registry items and you’ll find everything you’ll need from kitchen appliances and tableware to bedding, pillows and bath items. Here’s a look of what’s in store starting with these decorative accessories:

Here’s a festive table settings (may have to pick up that platter for my Texan brother-in-law!):

These Food Network brand appliances are great…they not only look modern and cool but will also inspire you to prepare lots of yummy meals:

Kohl’s also has a great selection for the bed and bath such as this chic ensemble:

…and other bedding options that are available in graphic hues of red, white, black and grey:

After attending these press previews, I always feel the urge to run home and do a major re-vamp of every room in my apartment! (But I stop myself, still a recession and all that…)

Next up, a stop at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC where we saw an array of exquisite jewelry inspired by the collections featured at the Met. Many of these items are perfect for accessorizing your bridal gown like these Russian Imperial anemone pieces:

Or, for special occasions, consider these striking carnelian, amethyst and gold filigree items:

The Met offers a wide variety of jewelry and gift items that make ideal gifts for your attendants. The prices are reasonable and the designs beautifully unique (go to store.metmuseum.org). I especially like these watches for men and women. They’re sleek, fun and a great buy for $65:

It was a busy week discovering all that’s new for you…from honeymoons to home products to fab fashion finds! And, these are just a few of the fantastic things available for brides and grooms. Have fun planning and shopping and be sure to look for lots more of what’s new in Bridal Guide.
