While hiking in Jillian’s hometown of Seattle, Shane popped the question atop Tiger Mountain as Jillian's parents waited nearby to celebrate. Given Shane had lived in Hawaii as a child, and both he and Jillian share a love for nature, the Southern California locals opted for an intimate destination wedding in the untouched Ka’a’awa Valley of Oahu, Hawaii. “We wanted an elegant, effortless feel,” said Jillian, “and Moana Events brought our dream to life by building an entire venue in the middle of this stunning, open valley.”
Katie May, who designed Jillian’s dress, had Shane write a short, loving note printed on a tag sewn into the gown. The bride carried a crisp bouquet of white anthuriums, mini garden roses and lisianthus backed by lush leaves.
The bride’s grandmother sewed the ring pillow out of fabric from her own wedding dress.
The couple said “I do” surrounded by green mountains, which served as a breathtaking backdrop for the ceremony. The ceremony site featured a nine-foot arch adorned with leaves and delicate white orchids.
During the ceremony, guests sat in wooden folding chairs decorated with ivory blossoms. Tropical leaves and pale blooms with delicate touches of gold perfectly complemented the natural landscape and enhanced the event’s sophisticated yet breezy vibe.
The reception site, just 200 feet away, featured twinkling string lights and charming wooden accents.
