Dating from the 16th century, the sprawling, palatial property in Cernobbio encompasses intricate English gardens, an enormous 25-acre park, boasting a landmark 500-year-old plane tree, countless walkways, stone fountains and terraces. Add the hotel’s sweeping views of Lake Como and the surrounding mountains and you’ve got a storybook honeymoon setting.
The property’s 152 individually appointed accommodations are divided among two historic stone buildings, with the Cardinal boasting 125 guest rooms, and the Queen’s Pavilion just 27. The luxe decor features period furnishings, original oil paintings, brocade draperies, silk wall hangings

For a more secluded experience, stay at one of the two 19th-century villas. Each offers multiple sitting rooms and bedrooms decorated in an ancient Roman motif, full-size kitchens and terraces spread over multiple fl oors, as well as a dedicated staff. Motorboats and limousines are available to chauffeur guests around the gorgeous surroundings.
