5 Beauty Products I Can't Live Without

I am a bona fide beauty junkie. When I walk into a Sephora, Ulta or department store cosmetics section I feel like a kid in a candy store. So much makeup! So many colors! So many new, exciting products! It takes every ounce of willpower not to buy out the store. But over the years I’ve managed to fine-tune my stash to a few faves. Here are my 5 absolutely, positively can’t-live-without beauty essentials.

  • Lancôme Définicils Waterproof Mascara in Black

Lancôme Définicils Waterproof Mascara in Black

I’ve been a devotee of this mascara since it first appeared on the market. It beautifully defines each lash and stays on all day. Tip: In order to really make my lashes stand out, I lightly powder them first with a pressed powder, curl the lashes (love Shu Uemera’s eyelash curler) and then apply mascara. To remove any waterproof mascara and liner, I recommend using Vaseline Petroleum Jelly first (yep, there’s a reason those basics are still so popular!) to soften the lashes and help prevent breakage, then gently tissue away mascara, liner, and shadow, and finish with Lancôme’s Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Makeup Remover to really clean the lashes and eye area thoroughly.

  • It Cosmetics CC+ Cream

    It Cosmetics CC+ Cream

This is a relatively new discovery, and I love it. When I read the packaging, it promised “Color Correcting, Full Coverage Cream + Anti-Aging Hydrating Serum +SPF 50+ UVA/UVB Broad Spectrum Protection”

"Wow!" I thought, "All that in one tube?" I had to try it, and I can honestly say it really delivers. It goes on smoothly, there’s no streaking, and it blends seamlessly with my complexion. Plus, I’m a huge fan of any cream or foundation with SPF protection.

  • Nars Blush in Orgasm

    Nars Blush in Orgasm

People have been singing the praises of this particular blush for ages… and with good reason. Its peachy-pink shade complements just about every skin tone and the subtle shine adds a natural-looking glow. It immediately brightens the face and makes you look glowing and refreshed (even when you’re exhausted!).

  • MAC Lip Pencil

    MAC Lip Pencil

I like to define my lips before applying any color; it creates a better shape and prevents lipstick from bleeding. The MAC lip pencils are terrific. They go on easily and are available in a multitude of shades. I especially like “Entertain Me” for corals/peaches/red shades and “Brick” for earthier, deeper hues.

  • Buxom Full-On Lipstick

    Buxom Full-On Lipstick

This long-lasting matte color (“Athena” a warm coral/pink is my go-to shade) does plump lips as promised (no injections needed!). It glides on easily and leaves a tingling sensation. I’ll usually layer another color over it just for fun (and because I like to experiment with different color/combos) and then finish with Buxom’s Lip Gloss, which plumps lips even more (yay!) and imparts a little shine.

Of course, I haven’t even touched upon my favorite eye shadows, lipsticks, primers, concealers, etc. so I’ll save that for a future blog. In the meantime, beautiful brides-to-be, have fun trying out one or more of my all-time favorite makeup products.
