Natural Inspiration: Alexia & Blaine in North Carolina

For an intimate wedding weekend to share with 90 guests, Alexia Rouquette and Blaine Mays wanted to find an off-the-beaten-path spot.

Since, as Alexia says, "It was just breathtaking," the couple settled on a theme of rustic elegance to keep the spotlight on the locale, then chose a nature-inspired palette of green, brown and yellow. Alexia worked with floral designer Carolyn Clement of Millefleurs, who created floral arrangements with a natural, unstructured look.

After deciding to search near the home of Alexia’s mother in North Carolina, they came upon The Camp at the Eseeola Lodge, a large log cabin on a grassy hill overlooking a boathouse and a lake with the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance.

There, before a local minister, the couple exchanged vows. "While we were wed, I held Blaine’s hands and looked into his eyes. Then I knew that our dreams were coming true," says Alexia.
