A Fine Fiesta: Holly & Randy In Zihuatanejo, Mexico

Holly Brown and Randy Nichols, of Denver, Colorado, had their hearts set on a getaway wedding weekend. Their only problem was settling on where they wanted to go.

After considering locations like Napa Valley, California, they discovered an easy, direct flight to Mexico—making it doable to throw a south-of-the-border fiesta. For the site, they chose La Casa Que Canta, in Zihuatanejo, Mexico, a resort perched on a cliff overlooking the Bay of Zihuatanejo. Even better, they found they could reserve the resort entirely for themselves and their 60 guests. “We loved the idea of having this amazing place all to ourselves,” explains Holly. With only six months to plan, Holly, a contract lobbyist, and Randy, a real estate developer, went right to work. They commissioned a graphic artist to create a unique wedding invitation—a booklet, designed to look like a travel journal, filled with the weekend’s itinerary. The invitation was light blue, with a drawing of a fuchsia hibiscus—and those hues set the color scheme for the wedding.
