Perfect Silhouettes: Gowns by Edgardo Bonilla

Inspired by the ultrafeminine, sexy looks of the Latin women from his native Puerto Rico, Edgardo Bonilla strives for a timeless elegance when designing his gowns.

Edgar Bonilla

Bonilla is known for focusing on one detail of a particular gown which makes it unique, such as a subtle bow, a corset back or a silk flower. Bonilla says when designing his wedding gowns, his goal is to create a perfectly proportioned silhouette.

Edgardo Bonilla’s Rules:

  • Look for a gown with a form-fitting bodice that has either a basque or dropped waist, because it will taper and accentuate your figure. Avoid a natural waist, which can be unflattering even on extremely thin women.
  • Don’t worry if the gown you order is a size or two larger than you’d normally wear. Bridal sizes are based on standard bust, waist and hip measurements, whereas ready-to-wear dresses are cut more generously.
  • A dress loaded with beads and crystals will detract from the beauty of your face.
  • All you need is a little “shadow” of sparkle.
