Modern Classics: Gowns by Michael Shettel

Michael Shettel

Using fabrics like cascading charmeuse and flowy, lightweight chiffon, with a focus on a wedding gown's proportion, draping and texture. Shettel's designs incorporate delicate beading, interesting back lines and necklines and modern mermaid and trumpet skirts.

Michael Shettel's Tips:

  • Bring a few barrettes or a ponytail holder with you on your bridal salon visits. Pinning your hair up into a bun, or pulling the sides back, can give a gown's neckline a completely different look.
  • Don't like ball gowns? Another very flattering silhouette is the princess-line, which can disguise full hips and give a tiny figure more proportion, shape and definition.
  • Even if you think you're an “ivory” girl, keep in mind that every ivory is different. So if there's a gown you like, see how it looks in every shade of white. You never know which hue will make you shine!
