Who Won Our 6th Annual Race for the Rock Contest?
At about 8:50 a.m. on Valentine's Day, our lucky winner proposed LIVE on CW11 in New York City with the $13,000, 1.26-carat total weight engagement ring he won from Fortunoff in Bridal Guide's 6th annual Race for the Rock. Edwin Delgado defeated nearly 20 other hungry suitors on February 7, as they rushed all over Manhattan, traveling by foot, car, subway and cab en route to the coveted "rock" hidden in one of the city's landmarks. Five mind-bending clues led to five locations, and Edwin, 25, from New Jersey, beat out other fiancés-to-be from all over the Tri-State area in the most challenging chase yet! Some contestants worked in teams, and many had a “lifeline” friend waiting by a computer to research clues. Contestants were so stumped at times, they showed up to the wrong locations or had to call Bridal Guide race coordinators for extra hints! For much of the race, Edwin and two other participants put their heads together on the clues, but he eventually broke out on his own and arrived first to the finish.
Bridal Guide's Race for the Rock aired on CW11 in New York City on Valentine's Day, directly followed by Edwin's surprise proposal live on TV to his girlfriend (now fiancé) Adrianna Garcia, 27. The proposal took place at the Fortunoff 57th Street store, and Arianna blissfully accepted. Edwin and Arianna have been together since April 2007, and knew their hearts belonged to each other the moment they met. Curious how you would fare against the competition?Think you could have beaten Edwin for the ring? There were five clues and five locations. From midtown Manhattan, contestants had to travel to each of the venues around the city in order to find the final site of the spectacular Gabrielle Diamond ring.
