Kristin & Kevin

The first summer Kevin and I were dating, we saw a band called the Mega 80s every weekend. Sitting on the dock of The Beach Grill was where we first...

Sitting on the dock of The Beach Grill was where we first told each other we loved each other one summer night. When the winter came, money got tight and we weren't able to see them as often due to our busy schedules. We were both juggling two jobs and trying to keep our sanity at the same time.

One particular summer Friday night, a year later, Kevin became very adamant about going to see them again. I had just gotten out of a bad day at work, and he was heading from his full-time job to his part-time job. He called and asked if I would go, and be ready to go by the time he got home. Knowing it had been a while since we had last seen them, I not so willingly obliged. He had been working so hard, and he had just wanted a break from the working world.

As I got ready for the evening, nothing went right. I didn't want to get dressed up and he really wanted to (we had seen them so many times, I didn't see the point in getting fancy this time around). My clothes weren't right, my hair wasn't curling, and I just flat out didn't want to go. I'm sure all females have had one of these nights before! Once we got to the Beach Grill the mood began to change. We took our usual spots near the stage and enjoyed the music and the company of just the two of us.

During the 30-minute break between sets, we headed outside to the dock to enjoy the night air. We sat down and relaxed… I did at least. As I began chatting away at him about nothing, Kevin became fidgety and goofy. I asked what was wrong with him and he just shook away the question. He then began to take the table that was in between us and move it, stating it didn't look right in that spot. I thought it odd that he cared this much about a table placement, but just continued to blab away to him. I remember mentioning that we were sitting in the exact spot where we first told each other we loved each other.

All of a sudden in mid-sentence, Kevin took my drink from my hands, drank some of it and put it on the table (Which he had gradually moved from in between us, all the way to the other side of him). In the time that it took for me to open my mouth to protest, Kevin had swooped down on his knee, ring in hand, and was (apparently) asking me to marry him. I was in such shock I only heard him say my name. I said yes (although I could've been saying yes I'll clean your truck for the next few months and not have known it) and the rest was history! Throughout the rest of the night we had a blast. It was a perfect way to end a bad day and begin a new life!
