Lynda & Danny

My fiancé, Danny, and I met during an evening out with friends in Tampa, FL 3.5 years ago. During our first conversation, we found that not only...

We found that our families were an extremely important part of both of our lives. During the time that we dated, we spent much time together with our families and fell in love with not only each other but each other's families too.

On December 22, 2006, Danny flew me to visit my family in New Orleans for the holidays. This was very exciting for me because I am in nursing school and had not seen my family in 5 months. Also, my two children, Paige and Shelby, were being taken care of by my parents in New Orleans while I got through my toughest semester. However, we again would not spend the holidays together. I begged that he meet me in New Orleans for Christmas. He was scheduled to have his son, Reily, with him for Christmas Eve and said that he would fly in to spend Christmas night together. He arrived on Christmas Night with his dad and brother.

My entire family was together with Danny's family. We were both so excited. We had dinner and visited for a while. Later that evening, my fiancé and mom called me into the kitchen. My mom said that they needed some help in the kitchen. As I made my way over to the sink to help with the dishes, everyone came in behind me. Danny stood in front of me and said that he wanted to talk. I was a little confused.

He told me that he loved me so much and that he was happy that we were able to spend our first Christmas actually together. He gave Paige and Shelby a hug and told them how important to him they were. He then turned to me and stated that he wanted to be a part of my life and a part of my family forever and then pulled my ring out of his pocket. I saw the nervousness in his eyes. We all laughed when my mom and his dad had to remind him to get on his knee. He then said that he loved me and asked if I would marry him. Of course, I said yes.

Just when we all thought it was time to have a toast; he pulled out two small boxes and asked Paige and Shelby to come over. Danny told them that he was honored to be a part of their lives and thanked them for giving him their blessings (I had no idea that he had asked them for my hand). He opened the boxes and gave them both rings too. The girls were so excited. That night ended with both of our families together. We toasted and cut a cake that my mom and dad made. Later that evening, he explained that the whole family had a part in this proposal. I am so thankful that he had so much support. This was the perfect proposal for two people that adore their families so much.
