Sarah & Andy
Ours was a simple engagement but oh so wonderful! Andy and I decided to take a little vacation to San Diego for our one-year anniversary. Disneyland, the beach...
Disneyland, the beach, and a stop at SeaWorld, were just a few of the things we had planned. The first night in San Diego was nothing grand. The hotel we had booked was one we'd stayed at before, although our room this time was backed along an alley and we heard people banging into dumpsters and cars driving by at all night. The next morning we asked to be moved to a quieter room away from the alley.
Boy were we surprised when the new room was next to a group of partying kids that stayed up til the wee hours of the night drinking, yelling, and blaring the music. So much for a quiet night!! We woke up the next morning feeling ever so tired and so not relaxed but to heck with it -- we were on vacation and, by golly, we were going to enjoy it!
We were off to SeaWorld, and the lines were practically nonexistent, which was a complete change from the 1-hour and 45-minute lines we had to wait on at Disneyland. After spending the day watching all the shows, a comedic walrus, dolphins that flipped so high out of the water, and of course, the main event Shamu, we decided to call it a day and head back to the hotel to freshen up before going out to eat.
We went to this simple little Italian restaurant called Felipe"s. The atmosphere was perfect: Chianti bottles hung from the ceiling signed by previous diners, the tables were covered with red and white checkered table clothes and a small candle at each table sent little flickers of light throughout the room... perfect! Andy didn't seem to have much of an appetite, but that didn't stop me from wolfing down half a plate of spaghetti and meatballs, a basket of garlic bread, and then, of course, I just had to help Andy eat the lasagna he ordered. Needless to say, I was stuffed and practically had to be rolled back to our hotel. It wasn't pretty.
Andy insisted we go for a walk along the beach though, so after grabbing a jacket we were off again. It was beautiful! Just the two of us walking along the beach... it was so quiet. The moon reflecting off the ocean, the waves coming in... just awesome! "What a wonderful way to spend our anniversary!" I thought and that's when it happened. I turned around for only a minute, but when I turned back around he had taken a knee and right there, and just asked, "Will you marry me?"
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it!!!! All I kept thinking was "NO WAY!!! ABSOLUTELY!" but the only thing that was coming out of my mouth was "NO" which would explain why he was looking at me somewhat puzzled. I immediately started shouting "I mean YES!!!!" before knocking him down in the sand and kissing him over and over again. I was a mess, crying, nose running, completely ecstatic!!! WOW!!!!!! It was the most perfect day and I am so excited knowing I'll be spending the rest of my life with the most wonderful man ever!!!!!
