Tammy & Aaron

It was my birthday and Aaron sent me roses to work, endured a family dinner at my sister's, and after trying to compete with my new puppy...

A birthday gift from my Dad, he came in to my room with something behind his back. Hoping this wasn't the way he was going to pop the question -- in my bedroom -- I was reluctant to see what was behind his back. He made a collage on the computer with tropical pictures and a photo-edited picture of us on a beach. Inside the card was a little poem and the word "SURPRISE!"

After expressing my confusion, he explained we were going on a surprise trip over Labor Day Weekend, but he wouldn't tell me where. I spent the next three weeks guessing different places, some exotic, some not, and building lots of anticipation. He kept his word, and only told me I'd need "beachy attire", but NEVER told me where we were going. I didn't find out until we were at the airport and when we were asked our destination at check-in, he had no choice but to say, Mexico!

As if Mexico wasn't enough, we soon pulled up to an AMAZING resort, the Grand Porto Real in Playa del Carmen. It was absolutely gorgeous, set oceanfront, had pools with swim up bars, hammocks on each balcony, and beds on the beach -- amazing! When we went up to our room there was a GORGEOUS suite overlooking the Mexican Riviera. The room was decorated with marble and pillars, and had a king size bed and a Jacuzzi overlooking the beach. Everything was like a dream. We ended the day on the beach followed by a romantic dinner -- and then to bed.

But, Aaron asked, and was very persistent about watching the sunrise the next morning. Around 6 am I felt him tossing and turning, my "not-so-much-the-morning guy" was up before me ready to watch the sunrise. It was a little cloudy, so the sky was a crimson, pink color and absolutely beautiful. We watched the sky change color and the sun peak out. We listened to the ocean and enjoyed each other's company.

When the sky really brightened up, Aaron turned to me and said, "How we feel today, is how I feel everyday with you. I want to feel like this for the rest of my life. You're like the sunshine beating down on my face." As he took the ring out of his pocket and opened the box, he got down on one knee, took my hand in his, kissed it and said, "Will you marry me?" I managed to shout out, "OF COURSE!!!!!!!" through my smiling and tears, and leaped into his arms as we stood there full of emotions for a few moments.

Aaron pulled away from me and said, "Don't you want to see your ring?" I completely forgot about that part. Although the ring is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, his words meant more than any amount of money he spent on the ring!
