My daughter was recently married in a small civil ceremony but plans to have a large Catholic ceremony next year. We would like to know the proper way to word the invitations. We don't want people to think they are just out for gifts, but are actually having the second ceremony to have their marriage blessed.

Your daughter may want to consider having a vow renewal. The style of the event is up to her, and she can plan a ceremony that includes wedding traditions such as the processional, readings, ring exchange, vows and recessional, followed by an evening of dinner and dancing. Here’s a sample of how the invitation should read: The pleasure of your company is requested at the reaffirmation of the wedding vows of Mr. and Mrs. Sean Stanhope Saturday, the seventeenth of October Two thousand and nine (location) Hope this helps!
