The more technical help I can get in the morning (especially before I gulp my first cup of stand-a-spoon-in-it-strong coffee) the better off I am. I was therefore ridiculously happy to get the new Oral-B Triumph electric toothbrush that helps the a.m. challenged by visually telling you when you have sufficiently brushed your lower right tooth quadrant and should move on to the uppers. It has a separate LCD Wireless SmartDisplay that counts up to the magic two-minute mark—the amount of time dentists recommend you brush—and communicates whether you’re brushing too hard (can lead to early gum recession) and which of the four brushing modes you’re in (clean, sensitive, massage and polish). I’ve used electrics versus good old hand-powered brushes after I got married and my sparkly toothed husband touted the long-term benefits of the massaging of the gums action that electrics do as they clean. I’ve used a $20 Oral-B electric ever since, but this kisser cleaner ($149.99; oralb.com) is a major upgrade.
