A New Look

New York, New York...it is a state of mind. Or at least a constant state of searching for the next best thing. A boyfriend, a husband, a job, a nanny, or in my case, an apartment. It's like a lover you can't quite commit to—sometimes your heart’s in it and sometimes, not so much. That has been my love-hate relay with finding a new apt. Finding a new home—whether it be an apt, house or condo—is a pain in the derrière. Fact. In NYC, it takes on a life of it's own. So while I've been meeting with realtors for months (Granted, I have very specific necessities: Elevator, high ceilings, lots of light and dog/baby friendly), I got some wild hair up my you know what and decided to rearrange my entire apt...on Sunday night and on my own!

To recap: I live in a well-lit, high-ceiling studio in Gramercy. Unfortunately, it’s a 3-floor walk-up (hence the need for the elevator). We have a dog and a daughter that pretty much rule the roost and I’ve driven myself crazy to make the space work. Here's my latest remodel to hold me over until I find a new space. If you want to check out my digs prior, take a look here.

I pulled up the rug and everything—couch, tables, toys—is in a new spot. Now there’s more space for Molly to play, and as you can see, Jack has already warmed up to the new arrangements.

I moved the table to the corner, partly to block Molly from getting into things and partly because it’s nice to eat by the window. Too bad the air conditioner is there. That’s such an east coast thing that I’ll never get used to.

My house is like romper room…toys, toys, toys.

This is under my bed and is housing all the things that have yet to find a home. It looked so good until you turn around! Luckily, a lot of it is things for Molly that she’s outgrown and we’re giving to families in need. So, I’m not totally done but happy with the progress so far. Hopefully, you’re settling in with your man with ease. Till next time, cheers!
