In Full Bloom
I went to a fabulous event this week called “In Full Bloom” at Bloomingdale’s. They featured tabletop collections from six top designers. The designers themselves actually chose what pieces to showcase and decorated the tables. I was particularily interested in three: Thomas O’Brien for Reed & Barton, Monique Lhuillier for Royal Doulton and Michael Aram for Waterford. I interviewed Thomas about his new line in the Nov/Dec 07 issue (if you missed it, you can read it here), and Monique and Micheal will be featured in the next two issues (so keep an eye out!). All three were such a pleasure to work with and it was fun to see what they created for the tables.
Michael Aram with Jorge Pérez, the Director of Editor Relations and Special Events for Waterford Crystal. |
Michael’s collaboration with Waterford gives brides a beautiful alternative to traditional white china. Isn’t the mix of silver so striking? |
Thomas O’Brien…Such a charmer! |
The geometric patterning and scalloped edge on the Marielle plates are one of my favorites in Thomas’s collection. |
Monique with her husband, Tom. Aren’t they adorable??? And they couldn’t be nicer! You can see some examples from her fashion line that Monique took inspiration from directly behind her. |
I also briefly stopped by Paul Wilmot Communications where Cathleen and Christine showed me a sneak peak of Michael’s private collection and Monique’s newest pattern for Royal Doulton that will be shown at the Tabletop market in April. Thanks!
I was so excited to get an early preview of Monique’s spring introduction—Ruban d’Or, which means “gold ribbon” in French. She really is a busy gal! |
Florals were a huge trend at the gift show and any one of these pieces would make a stunning statement on a Spring table. |

Monique's collection
I absolutely love Monique Lhuillier's line with Royal Doulton! The Femme Fatale is gorgeous!
