Hey ladies…I just want to remind you that our first “green” issue (May/June ’08) is on the stands now and it’s filled with beautiful, chic and eco-conscious goods and tips for your home. Danny Seo offers some great advice on how to throw an environmently-friendly, yet stylish shindig. Danny is JCPenney’s Green Living Consultant and the images feature products from JCP’s fantastic new green/organic line. An interesting little tidbit is that the photos were actually shot in Danny’s Pennslyvania home—and his house looks like something straight out of a catalog! Designer Profile is a little different this month, which was especially exciting for me. When I was researching way back in November, I just couldn’t find one designer that stood out as 100% green and had developed an extensive enough line that I wanted to share with you. What I did find, though, was a San Francisco–based (of course, West Coast!) online retailer called Branch. Their website (branchhome.com) is like eco-eye candy, and co-founder Paul Donald gave interesting insights on the growing concern of consumption and living green.
For Registry Report, Monica serves up a bucket (actually, a beautiful hand-carved wood basket) of the healthiest cleaning products, in addition to the best new tools to keep your home polished and germ-free. I was particulary impressed with Halo’s UV-ST Ultraviolet vacuum that uses ultraviolet light to kill up to 99% of the bacteria and dust mites in your carpet—not just moving it around. Have you ever seen a dust mite? Halo’s PR team showed us a video of them during an in-office demo, and it’s pretty disgusting. It was actually part of the reason I chose to switch to hardwood floors before my daughter was born. But had I stayed with carpet, the Halo vacuum would have been at the top of my baby registry! For the tabletop spread this month, Monica shows you that being green in the home absolutely can be beautiful and there are stylish options for every room in the house (we covered six). Fun fact: Look for Monica’s adorable son and my pup in the photo frames in the living room shot.

And don’t think the fun stops there. BG also produced an exclusive fashion CD-ROM where yours truly is one of the models rocking the latest in bridesmaid dress options. It was especially fun for me because I was six months pregnant and loved getting all dolled up and styled by our fantastic fashion duo, Alison and Dana.
