A Romantic Boudoir

Valentine’s day is coming! It’s one of my favorite holidays. My husband of six years forgoes buying chocolates (he knows me well) and focuses on roses—long stemmed and not from the corner deli—and lingerie. If you’re looking to ramp up romance, start with the look of your bedroom and think about adding items that will appeal to all of your senses.

My three quick fixes to change the mood: A set of new silky sheets to snuggle under. Buy now, and bust them out on February 14th. Super silky, vine trellis patterned Witney Italian spun Egyptian cotton sateen jacquard bedding by Sferra, is both elegant and sensuous feeling on the skin (Full/Queen duvet cover $765, Standard sham $155 each, Cecily Queen flat $295, Queen fitted sheet $150, Standard pillowcases $165/pair) sheets (sferralinens.com).

And let’s face it, everyone looks better in the flattering warm light of a flickering flame. Some super aromatic candles don’t always agree with you, so opt for some gentle scented varieties like PartyLite pillars and ball-shaped candles (partylite.com).

Finally, pop open a bottle of Moėt & Chandon champagne (moet.com) and pour liberally into sexy champagne flutes, like Nambe’s, designed by Eva Zeisel, which keep bubbles bubbly in a curvy, modern shape ($39.95; nambe.com).

Then shut off all the phones, put on some romantic tunes and hit the sheets.
