The Six-Month Panic
The wedding is less than six months away. How is that possible? It seems like a minute has passed since it was over a year away. Now we have less than six months to finalize a guest list, complete our pre-marital classes at the church, find a dress, hire a photographer and book a limo.
It sort of freaked me out when I was thinking about invitations today. We have to send our invitations out two months before the wedding. That’s by July. It’s already April. May, June and then bam—invitations must go out! Seriously?? That cuts the time down to two months. I have only two months to finalize the guest list and order the invitations. After doing half-assed prep work for months, it feels like the car is plowing ahead and it’s time to make decisions I’ve been waffling on.
Up until now, I’ve largely been doing most of the planning on my own. I made the deposits. I chose the colors. I met with the florist. Now I’m thinking I really need to take everybody up on their offers of help. I need to call in my sisters, my sisters-in-law-to-be, my mom, most of all, to help me navigate the crap that still needs to be done. And the clock is ticking.
So I guess, for me, the six-month panic was just a screaming realization: I want my mommy. Oh dear.
Tell me brides-to-be, what thoughts are keeping you at night? Anyone else facing a time-crunch panic?
