Bath Junkie

Although most of my time is spent behind the desk planning the best, must-read issues for you, there are those wonderful occasions when I’m invited to venture out and experience a new product, launch or concept. One such occasion was just the other night when I visited the amazing Bath Junkie store in Manhattan.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I just love bath products. All those delicious scrubs, gels, creams and scents instantly conjure up images of a relaxing spa and the chance to take some time to unwind and get pampered. And who doesn’t need that?

The geniuses behind the Bath Junkie store are a dynamic mother/daughter team, Judy Zimmer (the mom) and Jocelyn Murray. These two gracious ladies developed the concept of all natural, made-to-order products where customers mix and match literally hundreds of colors and fragrances. And what a blast it was to do that! Check out the huge selection of scented oils:

I was mesmerized as Jocelyn walked us through the cheerful store filled with every imaginable product—from body scrubs to shampoos and conditioners. (They even have scents for the car and home and a super all-purpose cleaning product!).

And what I love about these items is that they’re safe for anyone with sensitive skin or allergies, and the prices are completely affordable. Just think, you can give these fortune cookie soaps to guests as favors with your own customized wedding color and inscription inside:

Or you can create gift baskets with any of these products custom scented and colored to your liking. You can even throw a party for your bridesmaids in one of the Bath Junkie stores and have each maid create her own scent. (Right now there are currently 60 stores across the country with 9 more slated to open this year. Just go to bathjunkie.com to find a store near you.)

I have to tell you, I am loving my personal scent (hey, why should celebs like J Lo and Sarah Jessica have all the fun with their own perfumes!). Here are the two fab “mixologists” adding my scented oils to the exfoliating salt scrub:

And here’s a secret: my fragrance is just like Angel by Thierry Mugler but costs soooo much less. I am also now totally addicted to the salt scrub and body dessert moisturizer—honestly, my skin never felt so soft. So, for all of you brides-to-be who definitely deserve some TLC, treat yourselves and your friends to this delightful experience and check out the Bath Junkie—you’ll be hooked!
