Who came up with idea of wedding favors?
I get that they're a polite gesture to thank people for coming to your wedding, but do I honestly need a cookie with your monogram on it? I feel bad saying this knowing how much thought goes into planning a wedding, but it seems as if most favors are left on the table or trashed as soon as you get home. With this in mind I started to think of favor alternatives. Since we are having a wedding out of town, our biggest issue will be getting a travel-friendly gift that everyone can take home to remember our Big Day. Most of our guests are flying into New York, so we need favors that will pass through security and aren’t your everyday monogrammed food. We haven’t come up with anything insanely original, so we may need a little help…
HELP!!!!! WE NEED IDEAS!!!!!!!!!

Im thinking get a cool N.Y favor from a gift shop or somthing and Get those already made bows with your name.. And they can put them on their mantels in there car(on mirrior)

Give aways
Have water bottles made with pictures of the two of you. Those are really nice keepsakes. I recent make a collage of pictures and had them put on a church fan with a quote on the back. That would be a nice gift.

Gift a Donation!
I agree with you. No one really needs another glass or doodad with your name and wedding date. This idea isn't so original, but it's becoming very popular and I don't think it could ever be overdone. You can make a donation to your favorite charity in your guests'names. You can even do it through the I Do Foundation (http://www.idofoundation.org/brg). Then you can design appropriate 'cards' to let your guests know.
