Trend Report: Wedding Bands
Okay, okay, I know I just blogged about rings, but I told you…I’m obsessed! I recently spoke with Osnat Gad, the owner of OGI Ltd. and author of Wedding Rings, and she gave me the latest on wedding band trends—so of course I couldn’t resist sharing them with you.
Osnat noted how important it is to brides to find bands that match their engagement rings. But many brides are choosing to wear their engagement rings on their right hands if they can’t find a closely matched band. Matching with the groom isn’t a huge concern though—most brides opt for diamond wedding bands, while grooms want plain solid bands.
Lately brides are looking for delicate designs and details, choosing diamonds, colored stones, or plain engraved bands. Here are some of OGI’s latest trendsetters:
|
Osnat said that the round brilliant-cut diamond is the most popular choice for wedding bands, while the princess cut holds the number two spot. (Simple but elegant, and oh so sparkly!)
|
|
Bands with diamonds and blue sapphire accents, like these, are becoming popular to pair with matching sapphire engagement rings. (I l-o-v-e these. Have I mentioned blue is my favorite color?)

These rings are engraved with oak leaves, signifying loyalty and constancy of friendship (Aww!). Historical wedding rings seen in books and museums are engraved with this design, and lately brides are going back to leaf-motif bands—with or without diamonds.
Osnat said the metal of choice for both brides and grooms’ bands is platinum, because of its durability and lasting whiteness. (The whiteness of white gold can change over time.) While platinum and white gold remain the more popular choices, yellow gold is increasing in demand.
I don’t know about you, but I love all of these trends. Happy shopping!
