Green Gear
It never fails. Every time we wrap an issue here at BG, some amazing product, service or idea that would have been perfect to include in a story crops up. The same goes for our May/June 08 issue, which is on newsstands now—it contains an eco-friendly wedding planning guide full of fun green tips.
But since more designers and retailers are going green by the second, I didn’t get to mention these guys:
Dawes Design’s engagement and wedding rings are made to stack (so you can keep adding on special anniversaries—I love any excuse to add more bling!) and the designs are so gorgeous I had a hard time deciding which ones to display here. DD only uses recycled gold and conflict-free gems and uses eco-friendly production techniques. To me, it’s a win, win, win situation.
DIY brides have loved Sam’s Club for years, but now the socially conscious bride should check it out, too. Because Fair Trade Certified Flowers are now available at the price club.
What does Fair Trade Certified mean, you ask? Well, they’re flowers tagged with the above symbol, which guarantees that the workers have been treated and paid fairly—and that the flowers have been produced without overuse of water and energy and without damaging the habitats of aquatic life. So you can be confident your purchase is doing good. Fair Trade Certified flowers are also available online at samsclub.com, 1800flowers.com and organicbouquet.com.
Heather Moore Jewelry makes adorable personalized gifts to swap with your groom—prices of these special pieces range from $225 to $1,525. And each charm is made with recycled materials.

Wrap gifts for your bridesmaids in gift-wrap from the Julia Rothman Collection by Hello! Lucky. The feminine, vintage-inspired papers are made of 40% post-consumer recycled materials.
Adding eco-friendly ideas to your wedding is easier than you may think—and it doesn’t always cost more money. (In fact, some eco-friendly touches save you dough.) Pick up the May/June issue today and find out how! Believe me, there’s much more where this came from…
