Give It a Swirl

isabelI’m Isabel, one of the Editorial Interns working at Bridal Guide this summer. While I’m not married (I’m only 20!), I love anything new, cute, fun or edible (hi, did you SEE the chocolate sculptures Elena wrote about?), so I’m really excited to help tell you about all the great stuff we find. Plus, I was a flower girl once. That counts for something, right?

We recently met with Lisa Krikawa, who designs the rings for Krikawa Jewelry Designs, and we oohed and ahhed over her gorgeous jewelry. What struck us most were the engagement rings that had this totally unique swirling pattern in the metal. Lisa explained that they’re made using a technique called “Makumé Gané,” which dates back to 17th century Japan. To make these rings, the artist layers different colors of metal together, and the result is a one-of-a-kind multi-hued pattern. These rings would be perfect for any bride who wants an elegant, yet totally unusual ring.

Krikawa also makes pretty wedding-day jewelry, including bands, lockets and some amazing sculptural pieces to help you turn heads as you walk down the aisle.
