All That Sparkles

I love that my internship duties include thumbing through gems like Unbridaled—The Marriage of Tradition and Avant Garde, a book recently published by luxury crystal brand Swarovski. It's filled with beautifully shot photos of crystal-covered dresses, dishes and more. You can lose yourself for hours imagining your dream wedding in faraway locations as you look at the elaborate dresses featured in the book, like ones with poofy Vivienne Westwood skirts, jewel-encrusted Dries van Noten frocks and exotic Middle East–inspired gowns. Over 100 designers contributed to the book, including John Galliano and Vera Wang.

But I'll leave the dresses to our fashion department. Let's talk tableware, bouquets and invitations. Crystals add a little extra sparkle to these invites by Crane & Co., RedBliss and Creative Intelligence:

And nothing says “I’m willing to splurge and care about details” like this bottle decoration, made by the Swarovski Crystallized design team for Moet Chandon:

In the previous post, Susan gave some great ideas for how to decorate your bouquet with crystals. Well, why not a bouquet that’s made of crystals, like this one by Philippe Ferrandis?

And I just couldn't get enough of the composition of some of the shots in this book. Check out this Magritte-like photo of plates seemingly flying out of a bustier:

In case you want to try this at home, the bustier is by Chantal Thomass, the plates by Manufacture de Monaco and the glass domes underneath by Fleux. Totally impractical, but so gorgeous, right? Clearly, this book is a collection of inspirations, not a wedding primer filled with practical ideas. But there are already enough how-to books out there. And incorporating just a few of these fantasy elements could turn your wedding dream into reality.

Unbridaled is available for $59.95 at Saks Fifth Avenue, New York City and Mexico City; Rizzoli, New York City; Archivia, New York City; Book Soup, Los Angeles; East End Books, East Hampton, NY; Books & Book, Coral Gables, FL; Assouline.com; and Amazon.com.
