Small Wonders: The Mini-Size Wedding Trend

In the wedding world, bigger isn’t always better—has anyone else noticed the “mini trend” popping up lately? From cakes to dresses, small is big right now! I’ve listed some of my absolute favorite photos of this tiny trend.

Finger Foods

I love this photo of mini tacos and little salt-rimmed margaritas. How cute are the tiny tortilla chips used as taco shells? Miniature-sized appetizers allow you to incorporate a variety of different flavors and foods into your menu without breaking the bank. If you’ve got plates of mini tacos, mini sliders and mini pigs in a blanket going around, chances are there will be something to please everyone at your reception.

Cake Pops

First it was the cake, then the cupcake, and now the cake pop! I’ll admit this is a tiny trend I’m not crazy about—my heart dies a little each time the cake gets smaller. I am very much looking forward to having cake (not just a bite, but a whole slice!) on my wedding day. Although cake pops are cute, without a doubt, I don't think one or two bites of dessert is ever enough, but I digress...

[Editor's Note: Love the look of cake pops but worried they're not filling enough, like Nikki? Check out this amazing fusion cake that made waves in the blogosphere a few months ago!]

Alcoholic Drinks

When you think of jello shots, a college frat party is probably the first thing that comes to mind. But these days, shots are going the classy route—no glasses needed. This blueberry martini jello shot with blueberries on the inside is a real conversation starter!

Short Wedding Dresses

Who says wedding dresses must be long? That’s right, even the classic gown is getting shorter. Although I have opted for a longer dress, I am terrified of tripping on it, so I totally see the benefit of a flirty, short frock!

I am definitely in love with this Allure Bridals dress. For those of us unwilling to embrace the short dress trend on our wedding day, perhaps this could be a great rehearsal dinner outfit. Check out more gorgeous short styles in our new gown gallery.
