We put dozens of products to the test to find the best bets for your honeymoon, from hair care to sunscreens to makeup. Here, see the winners.

  • Double-Duty Products: BB Cream

    Double-Duty Products: BB Cream

BB cream is the latest beauty craze, and with good reason — this all-in-one product takes the place of your regular moisturizer, sunscreen, primer, and foundation. We tested 10 of the latest product launches, and here are our favorites:

For sheer coverage: Dr. Lewinn by Kinerase Instant Perfecting B.B. Cream ($15.97, Walmart) goes on sheer and blends seamlessly into your skin, smoothing out uneven skin tone.

If you typically wear foundation and want a little more coverage, try DiorSnow UV Protection BB Cream ($58). It’s a worthy splurge, considering how many products it replaces in your beauty cabinet. Bonus: It provides more sun protection than most BB creams (SPF 50).

  • Double-Duty Products: Blush & Lipstick

    Double-Duty Products: Blush & Lipstick

Give your cheeks and lips subtle shade with these creamy multi-purpose products.

If you tan easily and will be wanting a darker shade by the end of your honeymoon, consider Sonia Kashuk’s Kiss on the Cheek palette ($14.99). Bonus: The tint includes hyaluronic acid, which moisturizes skin and boosts elasticity.

Or, pack even lighter by finding your ideal shade from RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek ($36) — "promise" is my personal favorite. It’s organic and moisturizing, and the color will last all day.

  • Double-Duty Products: Miracle Creams

    Double-Duty Products: Miracle Creams

Coconut oil and shea butter are two of nature’s miracle products; not only do they make wonderful moisturizers, but they can be put to work in dozens of additional ways. Use them as shaving cream, massage oil, hair conditioner, lip balm, or to de-frizz hair, to name a few.

Coconut oil is great on breakouts (it’s rich in lauric acid, an antimicrobial agent) and for removing makeup (even stubborn waterproof mascara). Try OEVCO Co.'s Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil Moisturizer ($19.99 for 2 oz. or $29.99 for 4 oz.).

Shea butter is perfect for soothing sunburned skin and treating eczema. We love L’Occitane Pure Shea Butter ($12 for 0.26 oz. or $40 for 5.2 oz.). And be sure to check out L'Occitane's 50 uses for shea butter!

  • Hair Care: Dry Shampoos

    Hair Care: Dry Shampoos

Whenever my husband and I travel, he’s always up and ready to hit the breakfast buffet before I've even opened my eyes. The last thing he wants to do is wait another 45 minutes while I shower and blow dry my hair. Enter the dry shampoo: With just a few spritzes, you’ll absorb excess oil in your hair and revitalize limp locks. Here, my top picks:

A little bit goes a long way with Brazilian Blowout’s Instant Volume Body Boost Powder — just a few shakes will dry up all of the excess oil. Be forewarned: If you use too much, you might end up with staticky hair instead. Bonus: Since it’s a powder, you can toss this in your carry-on without worrying about liquid limits.

My personal favorite is Kenra Platitum Dry shampoo ($9 for 1.5 oz. or $22 for 5 oz). I love the tropical scent — so perfect for honeymooners!

If you have dark hair, you’re probably familiar with the powdery result you can often get from dry shampoo. But that’s not the case with Oscar Blandi’s Pronto Invisible Volumizing Dry Shampoo Spray ($5 for 0.75 oz., $11 for 1.4 oz, or $25 for 5 oz.) — it sprays on clear.

If you're looking to amp up the volume in your hair, try Umberto Beverly Hills Dry Clean Dry Shampoo ($12.99 for 4 oz.). Not only did it absorb oil, but it plumped up my thin hair.

Batiste Travel Size Dry Shampoo (from $3.99) gets bonus points for its ultra-powerful spray — the product gets right down to your roots with very little effort on your part. It comes in a ton of fun scents, plus versions specially formulated for your hair color.

  • Hair Care: Solid Shampoos

    Hair Care: Solid Shampoos

Don’t like to just cross your fingers and hope the hotel’s complementary shampoo and conditioner will do the trick? You're not alone. But packing shampoo presents all kinds of problems —if you want to carry on, you may not be able to bring enough for your entire trip. If you put it in your checked luggage, there's a good possibility it'll leak and ruin half of your clothes. But you can solve both of these dilemmas with a solid shampoo bar.

At Lush, you can find the perfect solution for your biggest hair dilemmas. One bar equals three regular-sized bottles of shampoo. Liven up dull, flat hair with the blue Seamik bar ($11.95). Clarify oily locks with the purple Jumping Juniper bar (10.95). And moisturize your locks with delicious-smelling sea salt and coconut oil solid conditioner ($9.95). Or, cut out a step in your haircare routine and try one of the shampoo and conditioner in one bars. Tip: Store your bars in Lush’s tins to prolong them.

Another multi-tasking product, the unisex Shhh bar ($17) is made for shampooing, showering, and shaving. When I asked my husband to take it for a test drive, he looked at me like I was crazy. “You can’t wash your hair with a bar!” he claimed. But after trying it, he had to accept that — as usual — I was right. It thoroughly cleanses hair, provides enough lather for a man to shave his face with ease, and leaves your skin feeling soft after bathing.

  • Hair Care: Anti-Frizz

    Hair Care: Anti-Frizz

If you’re heading to a tropical locale, combat humidity head-on with a good anti-frizz product. The latest products won’t weigh down your hair or leave a greasy residue — two things that have turned me off to anti-frizz products in the past. After trying dozens of serums, lotions, and sprays, these three all earned top scores in my book; they left my hair unbelievably soft and smooth — even without heat styling:

KeratinPerfect Hair BB 3-in-1 Multi-Action Hair Beauty Balm ($28)
Yes to Carrots Anti-Frizz Serum ($7.99)
It Factor Simply It Quick Blowdry Smoothing Lotion ($21.50)

Bonus: The It Factor lotion will also cut your drying time in half — its VaporBoost System reduces the bond between the hair shaft and water.

  • Hair Care: Travel Dryers

    Hair Care: Travel Dryers

Just because you're traveling doesn't mean you need to use a less-than-stellar hair dryer. These three lightweight dryers all dried my hair as efficiently and effectively as a full-size dryer.

Sedu Revolution Pro Ionic Dual Voltage Travel Dryer ($80) is a 1200-watt dual voltage dryer featuring ionic technology.

Solano Professional Super Lite Ionic Tourmaline Hair Dryer ($159.95) isn't technically a travel dryer, but it's so lightweight that we think it's perfect for traveling. I love that this 1800-watt tourmaline dryer doesn't get super-hot, so you don't feel like you're scorching your hair.

X5 Superlite Travel Dryer ($78) packs a lot of power in only 9 ounces — 1600 watts with two speed settings and tourmaline and ionic technology.

  • Hair Care: Travel Flat Irons

    Hair Care: Travel Flat Irons

These six-inch flat irons aren't just adorable — they're true workhorses. They get hot enough to straighten even the curliest hair, and their ceramic plates help minimize damage to your hair.

Sedu Revolution Pro Shortie Mini Styler ($59.99) heats up to 400 degrees, features dual voltage, and includes a travel storage pouch and heat protective glove.

Cricket Friction Free Tourmaline Mini Flat Iron ($39.99) is a wonderful budget-friendly pick. It heats up to 392 degrees and is easy to use. Bonus: The comb guide helps detangle as you straighten.

  • Hair Care: Beach Must-Have

    Hair Care: Beach Must-Have

Let's face it — windblown beach hair never quite looks as good as Hollywood would lead you to believe. Secure your hair on the beach with Goody Spin Pins ($5.89). Simply twirl your hair into a bun and twist in the spin pin — it does the job of 20 bobby pins with ease.

  • Hair Care: Hair Repair

    Hair Care: Hair Repair

Salt water, chlorine, and wind can lead to dry hair and breakage. Treat your locks with one of these intensive moisturizers that repair your hair!

CHI Silk Keratin Infusion ($26.50) works to rebuild and smooth your hair's cuticle. It made my hair so soft and shiny — without leaving a residue.

Black 15in1 Miracle Hair Treatment ($18) also uses silk proteins and keratin to moisturize, strengthen, soften, and smooth your hair. It's infused with antioxidants, green tea, and aloe vera. As the name suggests, it cures 15 hair dilemmas in 1 product, including preventing frizz, detangling locks, protecting against heat styling, providing UV protection, and adding volume.

  • Hair Removal

    Hair Removal

When you're spending day in and day out in swimsuits, skirts, and shorts, you might need to be more vigilant about your hair removal than usual. But who wants to waste precious beach time shaving every day? Instead, consider using an epilator, an electric device that removes hair with a set of rotary tweezers, catching each and every hair and pulling them out by the root.

Is it painless? Absolutely not. But the results make it worthwhile — you'll have silky smooth legs for up to six weeks. I love Remington's new Wet/Dry Body and Face Epilator (EP7030) ($69.99, available in May). With two speeds (one for course hair and one for fine), it truly catches every hair, long and short. To alleviate some of the pain, Remington recommends popping a pain reliever (like ibuprofin) about 30 minutes before using the device.

Bonus: Unlike waxing, you don't need to wait until the hair grows back between sessions — after your first major removal, just use it every couple of weeks for a touch-up!

Prefer good 'ol shaving? Toss a can of Pure Silk Raspberry Mist Moisturizing Shaving Cream with Aloe ($1.29) in your carry-on — we love the fruity fragrance!

  • Beat Jet Lag: Moisturizers

    Beat Jet Lag: Moisturizers

Spending hours and hours on an airplane can wreak havoc on your skin. Here, our favorite products that will replenish your tired skin.

Metropolis Soap Co.'s Whipped Shea Butter ($19.99) is a luxurious blend of natural moisturizers — shea butter, coconut oil, and vitamin E. I love the "vanilla absolute" scent.

Lush's Silky Underwear Dusting Powder ($6.95) is made up of grated cocoa butter, which melts into your skin to provide unbelievable moisture. As the name suggests, it gives your skin a wonderfully silky feel. Bonus: It's a powder, so toss it in your carry-on.

Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa's Olive Oil Moisturizing Body Spray ($29) absorbs quickly and locks in hydration without a greasy residue. And since it's a spray, a little bit goes a long way.

  • Beat Jet Lag: Lackluster Skin & Tired Eyes

Beat Jet Lag: Lackluster Skin & Tired Eyes

This refreshing spray toner by Clairvoyant Beauty ($24) blends cucumber juice — which stimulates cell growth, strengthens connective tissues, and has anti-inflammatory properties — and soothing aloe to  instantly perk up your skin.

With a sweet citrusy scent, Napoleon Perdis Energizing Eye Masks ($30 for four) work to reduce dark circles and undereye bags while moisturizing and nourishing the sensitive eye area. They're incredibly refreshing, especially after not getting enough sleep the night before.

  • Sunscreens

    Sunscreens

With Neutrogena's Wet Skin Sunscreen Spray Broad Spectrum SPF 85+ ($11.49), there's no excuse not to reapply your sunscreen every two hours; this powerful spray can break through the water on your skin, so you don't need to wait until you've dried off before applying. Hop out of the pool, spray yourself down, and jump right back in — it couldn't get any easier! Water resistant for up to 80 minutes.

Vichy’s Capital Soleil SPF 50  Lightweight Foaming Lotion ($28.50) practically goes on dry — it absorbs into your skin faster than any other sunscreen I've tried. It’s water resistant for up to 80 minutes and won’t clog pores.

Until I started using Coppertone’s Water Babies SPF 50 ($3.99), my eyes would always burn in the water when sunscreens would inevitably drip. Sure, you might feel a little funny buying a sunscreen made for babies, but your eyes will thank you later. Water resistant for up to 80 minutes.

  • Natural Sunscreens

    Natural Sunscreens

More and more consumers are becoming concerned about oxybenzone, a substance found in sunscreens that's considered a “high hazard” by the Environmental Working Group. It's been linked to allergies, hormone disruption, and cell damage in addition to its negative impact on the environment, according to The Daily Green

If you're trying to avoid this ingredient, look for sunscreens that list titanium dioxide or zinc oxide as their active ingredient. One of the most common complaints with natural sunscreens is that they leave a chalky residue on the skin, but we found that all of these options blended as well as traditional sunscreens.

MDSolarScience Quick Dry Body Spray SPF 40 ($19) is water resistant for up to 80 minutes, non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores), comes in a convenient spray, and leaves no greasy residue.

Yes to Cucumbers Soothing Natural Sunscreen SPF 30 ($11.99) is water resistant for up to 40 minutes and is hypoallergenic. We love that it doesn’t have that traditional sunscreen smell — the cucumber scent is a refreshing change! Bonus: Green tea and aloe soothe skin as it protects.

Goddess Garden Organics SunnyBody SPF 30 ($21.99) sprays like an aerosol and is water resistant for up to 40 minutes. It quickly disappears on your skin without leaving a residue.

DeVita Solar Body Block SPF 30+ ($27.95) both protects your skin from sunburn and works to repair previous damage — hyaluronic acid smoothes wrinkles and plumps up your skin. The product also doubles as a body lotion, and we love that it’s unscented.

  • Dry Sunscreens

    Dry Sunscreens

Hate the slick look some sunscreens can leave on your face? Try Jane Iredale Powder-Me SPF 30 ($45.50) or Mineral Fusion SPF 30 Brush-On Sun Defense ($24.99). We recommend using the powders on top of a BB cream for maximum protection. Bonus: Use the powder around your hairline and on your part to protect your scalp without making your hair greasy.

  • Lip Sunscreens

    Lip Sunscreens

For your lips, try ChapStick Active Sport Ready SPF 30 ($2.99). We love its light citrusy scent. And you can clip it onto the strap of your tote bag, so you’ll never lose your ChapStick inside your bag again.

Jack Black Intense Lip Therapy SPF 25 with Vanilla and Lavender ($7.50) softens lips while protecting from the elements.

Yes to Carrots Sweet Fig Lip Butter with SPF 15 ($3.49) is all-natural, paraben-free, and filled with antioxidants. It's long-lasting and goes on smooth.

It's not just your body that you need to protect from the elements; don't forget your hair! Prevent your highlights from fading and your hair from drying out with the Ouidad Sun Shield Sun & Sport Leave-In Conditioner ($21). It contains UV blockers and also helps protect your hair against chlorine, wind, and salt.

  • Makeup

    Makeup

With 12 eye shadows, two blush tones, and three lip shades — plus the appropriate brushes and a mirror — the compact NP Set Gorgeous-To-Go Palette ($27) has everything you need all in one place.

Sonia Kashuk's latest collection for Target includes a ton of great picks for your honeymoon. Some of our favorites: The Limited Edition Brush Couture Four-Piece Brush Set ($12.99) is a great budget-friendly pick that can handle all of your makeup needs. For your eyes, we love how the Sonia Kashuk Eye Couture in Eye on Glamour ($19.99) includes both fun Caribbean-inspired shades and traditional neutrals, so you can mix it up depending on your mood. Or, pick up the Limted Edition "Moroccan Dunes" Eye Palette ($16.99) for gorgeous shimmery neutrals.

  • Waterproof Mascaras

    Waterproof Mascaras

To put waterproof mascaras to the test, we checked to see which lasted throughout the day and a hot shower. These earned top marks:

DiorShow Waterproof Mascara ($25) gives you ultimate volume and length, and it won't budge until you want it to.

Napoleon Perdis Mermer-Eyes Waterpoof Mascara ($25) features a unique wand that doubles as an eyelash comb, eliminating clumps as you apply and saving you space in your makeup bag. It dries incredibly quickly, gives you both length and volume, and has major staying power. Bonus: It's paraben-free and conditions your lashes with vitamin E, panthenol, and bamboo.

Not a fan of waterproof mascara? You don't need to give up wearing your old favorite during your honeymoon; just apply Anastasia Beverly Hills Lash Genius ($21), a clear waterproofing top coat, on top of any mascara!

  • Makeup Remover

    Makeup Remover

Toss convenient makeup-remover wipes in your bag. These top picks removed even stubborn waterproof mascara with ease:

I love the scent of Pacifica Purify Coconut Water Cleansing Wipes ($6 for 30). Unlike most wipe packs, this one has a plastic seal rather than a sticker, helping to avoid having your wipes dry out before you can use them all. The wipes are infused with coconut water for its antimicrobial properties, papaya for exfoliation, and aloe vera and calendula to soothe skin.

Comodynes Make-Up Remover for Normal Skin ($6.25 for 20) are larger than most other towelettes — so if you sometimes end up using more than one to remove all of your makeup, give these a try. These hypoallergenic wipes cleanse, tone, and moisturize your skin all in one.

  • Solid Perfumes

    Solid Perfumes

Few things can spark a memory faster than fragrance. But who wants to pack a fragile, expensive bottle of perfume on their honeymoon? Instead, consider a Mélange Solid Perfume Blending Palette ($28). Each palette includes four different fragrances, which can be worn separately or blended for a custom scent. I love the Green Notes collection. Bonus: After your honeymoon, your special scent will remind you of your trip every time you wear it.

  • Travel Bags

    Travel Bags

Pack up all of your toiletries in one of these adorable new bags from Sonia Kashuk for Target. My favorites: the Valet ($19.99), the Ultimate Weekender ($29.99), and the Triple Train Case ($19.99).

  • If You Get Your Period

    If You Get Your Period

If you're unlucky enough to have your period during your honeymoon (we feel your pain!), consider packing a reusable DivaCup ($39.95) instead of tampons or pads. Not only does it take up a fraction of the space in your luggage, but you can leave it in for up to 12 hours — so you won't need to leave the beach to take care of business.
